Modelling selection via multiple ancestors

چکیده
A two-types, discrete-time population model with finite, constant size is constructed, allowing for a general form of frequency-dependent selection and skewed offspring distribution. Selection is defined based on the idea that individuals first choose a (random) number of potential parents from the previous generation and then, from the selected pool, they inherit the type of the fittest parent. The probability distribution function of the number of potential parents per individual thus parametrises entirely the selection mechanism. Using samplingand moment-duality, weak convergence is then proved both for the allele frequency process of the selectively weak type and for the population’s ancestral process. The scaling limits are, respectively, a two-types Ξ-Fleming-Viot jump-diffusion process with frequency-dependent selection, and a branching-coalescing process with general branching and simultaneous multiple collisions. Duality also leads to a characterisation of the probability of extinction of the selectively weak allele, in terms of the ancestral process’ ergodic properties.

Modelling Integrated Multi-item Supplier Selection with Shipping Frequencies
There are many benefits for coordination of multiple suppliers when single supplier cannot satisfy buyer demands. In addition, buyer needs to purchase multiple items in a real supply chain. So, a model that satisfies these requests has many advantages. We extend the existing approaches in the literature that assume all suppliers need to be put on a common replenishment cycle and each supplier ...

The generalizability aspect of Construct validity, as proposed by Messick (1989), requires that a test measures the same trait across different samples from the same population. Differential Item functioning (DIF) analysis is a key component in the fairness evaluation of educational tests. متن کاملUsing optimized distributional parameters as inputs in a sequential unsupervised and supervised modelling of sunspots data
Detecting naturally arising structures in data is central to knowledge extraction from data. In most applications, the main challenge lies in the choice of the appropriate model for exploring the data features. Quite often, the choice is generally poorly understood and any tentative choice may be too restrictive. Growing volumes of data, disparate data sources and modelling techniques entail th...
متن کاملSALSA: Sequence ALignment via Steiner Ancestors
We describe SALSA (Sequence ALignment via Steiner Ancestors), a public{domain suite of programs for generating multiple alignments of a set of genomic sequences. We allow the use of either of the two popular objectives, Tree Alignment or Sum-of-Pairs. The main distinguishing feature of our method is that the alignment is obtained via a tree in which the internal nodes (ancestors) are labeled by...
متن کاملImplicit Opponent Modelling via Dynamic Case-Base Selection
In this paper we introduce and evaluate an approach for performing implicit opponent modelling by constructing multiple, distinct case-bases via expert imitation and dynamically selecting the best casebase to use against a particular opponent at runtime. In our experimental results, we address whether a strategy based on dynamic case-base selection can improve overall performance against a rang...
